Course Content
A free tax course to introduce you to our Learning Management System (LMS) and course content. This tax course contains information about education credits. It includes a sample of the following: lecture video, classwork, homework and a quiz.
This course covers:
- Descriptions of education credits; refundable and non refundable
- Rules governing who and what expenses qualify for education credits

To take our free sample taxcourse, Watch the “How to Use the LMS” lecture video, then follow the easy step-by-step instructions on this page, then click on the Free Sample Course button at the bottom of Step 6 on this page. enrolling in your free course is easy. Simply follow the instructions shown below.
Step 1 - Navigate to the Learning Management System (LMS)
Click on the Free Sample Course button at the bottom of this page.
Step 2 - Select "Create a Free Account " or "Login as a Guest"
In order to get the most out of this free course you should make a free account. This way you can take quizzes and tests and receive a certificate of completion.
Alternatively you may click "Login as Guest".
Step 3 - Fill in your details to create an account
Here you will be asked to create a username and password, as well as filling in your contact information. After you click "Create My New Account", the LMS will send a confirmation to the email address you provided.
Step 4 - Check your email for your LMS account confirmation
Go to your email to look for your LMS confirmation. The email should appear within a few minutes. (If no email is received, check your spam folder.)
The email sent to you by the LMS contains information on how to activate your account. The email also contains a link, which will return you to the LMS. Click on the link in the email to begin taking the FREE Sample Tax Course.
Step 5 - Begin Taking the FREE Sample Course
Now that your registration and enrollment is complete, begin taking the Free Sample Course.
- Go to Course Manuals to print your Student Manual and Quiz.
- Go to Lecture Videos to watch the Lecture Video Recording.
- Go to Tests to take online tests.
- Go to Q&A Forum to post questions and receive answers from your instructor in our Q&A Forum.
Step 6 - Download Free Java & Video Drivers (If you need them)
Most modern computers already have the appropriate Java and video drivers installed to run applications for our FREE Sample Tax Course, however you may find your computer needs some updating before it can login to the LMS or play our lecture videos.
Also please be advised that the LMS officially supports only Internet Explorer 7, Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox browser applications. Although students have reported they can take our courses using Google Chrome and Safari, other students have reported difficulties with these browswers. If you encounter login or video viewing difficulties, we stongly recommend installing Mozilla Firefox onto your computer.

Advance Preparation Required (for Self-Paced Online Students)
Our online Learning Management System (LMS) is easy and fun to use however first-time users of our online education programs should devote not less than one half hour to reading our Student LMS User Manual prior to beginning a course.
Our LMS education platform requires an up-to-date Adobe Flash® Player and use of a high-speed internet connection. To ensure your learning experience is worthwhile and productive we ask all students to take the time to become familiar with our education platforms before attending class.
Please complete ALL of the following tasks prior to beginning your first course:
- Read the Student LMS User Manual,
- Download and print the Student Manual.

Few students have reported success while operating outside of these requirements, therefore these are provided as a guideline for troubleshooting if you are having difficulties viewing or operating in our LMS site. Basic Tax Law
Students taking any Basic Tax Law course, agree to comply with all Terms of Enrollment outlined the enrollment agreement form for that course, which can be found on our Enrollment Forms page.
Prerequisites & Advance Preparation
Students intending to write the Oregon State Tax Exam, must be at least 18 years of age, and have High School Diploma or GED. Students using our self-paced internet based program should prepare for classes by downloading and printing course materials.
