Correspondence Tax Education Courses
Correspondence Course Format Description (No Computer Required)

This format is popular for students and tax professionals who prefer to obtain CPE utilizing independent self-study methods or for those who do not have access to a computer with a high-speed Internet connection.
Delivery of Correspondence Course Materials
Students will receive the following course materials via E-mail or US Postal Service mail:
1. A student manual and reading assignment, and
2. Quiz and homework assignments.
Students complete reading, classwork and quiz assignments and submit answer keys to the School for grading. Answer keys may be submitted to the School via e-mail, fax or U.S. Mail.
A passing score of 70% or higher on the homework and quiz assignments is required to pass a correspondence course. Upon successful completion of a course, the School will e-mail, fax, or mail a certificate of completion to the student.
Non-interactive Format
With the exception of our Basic Tax Course, the Correspondence Course Format is a non-interactive format. CTEC and certain state boards of accountancy may give reduced credit or no credit for non-interactive courses. Please check our Licensing Laws page to see if your state accepts our correspondence course CPE.
Our Basic Tax Course (Correspondence) is an interactive self-study course. It is recognized by CTEC for the 60-Hour Federal and California Qualifying Education Requirement.
The Oregon Tax Board has approved our Basic Tax Course as a qualifying 80-Hour Basic Tax Course.
Advance Preparation Required (for Correspondence Students)
Each session of the series generally requires the use of one or more income tax forms. Students should refer to the classwork and homework assignments shown in the student manual at the end of each session for a listing of required forms. Students should print these forms or have tax software available to prepare tax return assignments.
